The Lions returned safely to Westchester yesterday evening after a long trip back from Anchorage. The Lions went 1-2 in the tournament, falling to ORU and Anchorage Alaska and defeating Texas State.
The loss that will sting Lions fans most is the loss to host Anchorage Alaksa. AAU came into the game 6-1 having defeated UC Riverside the night before. A combination of a cold shooting by the Lions, and white hot shooting by the Sea Wolves had LMU fighting from behind for a majority of the game. The most impressive statistic of the night was the Sea Wolves shooting from the three point line. They finished the game making fifteen 3 point shots, shooting at 55%.
Despite this loss, there was still a lot of positive points aspects of the tournament. It was great too see how well we can rebound as demonstrated in the game against Texas State. Anthony continued his stellar play, and Deji has really stepped up and become a key contributor. It was also great to see CJ back in the line up.
I knew that before this season started that it was going to be a season of growth and development. We lost almost 40 points a game to graduation, and have a young team with a lot of new faces on the roster. The season is still young, and I see a lot of potential but success is only going to come with a lot of hard work and dedication.
It will be nice to have the Lions back in Los Angeles after logging so many miles on the road. Starting with the trip to Dallas the Lions have been on the road for almost 19 days. The Lions face Long Beach State this Thursday, November 29th at 700 pm in Gersten.
