According to Adam Zagoria (Adam Zagoria on Hoops and Recruiting), Monmouth grad transfer Ray Salnave has trimmed his lengthy list of suitors down to three final schools: LMU, St. John’s and DePaul.

Among the schools no longer on his list are Appalachian State, Creighton, Marquette, Minnesota, Northeastern, Hofstra, Iowa State, Illinois, Rhode Island, UNC-Charlotte, Utah State,UC Riverside and UCLA.

The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists last season as a redshirt junior at Monmouth. As a grad transfer, he would be eligible to play in the fall for the LMU and he would provide a much-needed boost to the Lions backcourt.

Salnave, who was a second-team All-MAAC selection last season, broke down his three options to Zagoria this way:

St. John’s – “It would be great to be back home and play in NYC again. Important for my family and loved ones.”

LMU – “Coach [Stan] Johnson seems very promising and he’s made me feel very comfortable. One of the few head coaches that were direct and up front with me about plans.”

DePaul – “They’ve also made me feel really comfortable throughout the process and I think they also can be promising.”

To see Salnave in action, he’s featured here in the Monmouth Play of the Day as he hits the game winner against Albany last season:

To get an idea of his enormous potential, here’s a video of Salnave during his junior year in high school in New York:

Ray Salnave is known in high school and college for his late game heroics, here’s hoping he chooses to join Coach Stan Johnson and continue his heroics as a Lion!
