The Lions are off to a 5-0 start for only the 4th time in school history. The streak includes the program’s first win over the Big East’s Georgetown Hoyas (4-1) and the first win over the Mountain West’s UNLV Rebels (3-1) in Las Vegas since 1973.

In recognition of the fast start, the Lions have received votes in the November 19th AP Poll. That’s the first time LMU has ascended to such heights in Coach Dunlap’s tenure.

Senior Guard James Batemon, has already won the 2018 Jamaica Classic MVP and WCC Player of the Week honors. Batemon was the leading scorer in all three wins this last week as he averaged over 21.3 points, 6.0 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 38.6 minutes per game.

7’3” Junior Center Mattias Markusson was named to the All-Tournament team in the 2018 Jamaica Classic. Markusson was dominant in the paint and proved crucial down the stretch to help keep LMU undefeated. Against Georgetown, Markusson grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds to go with 9 points. Two nights later, he turned in a 12-point, six rebound performance against Ohio as he finished a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line.

The team is off to a fantastic start!  It’s a great time to be a Lion!
