Multiple sources are reporting that LMU has offered 6’5” Trevion Lamar a scholarship to play for the Lions next fall. The 215-pound Lamar, averaged 16.4 points, 7.9 rebounds while shooting 44% on FGs, 38% on 3s and 76% from the line. He also had 94 assists, 35 steals and 10 blocks for Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa. A freshman, Lamar was named First Team All-Region 2 and First Team All-OCAC.
A year ago, as a senior at Jenkins High School in Savannah, GA in 2017, Lamar averaged 20.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game when he was named the Region 3-3A player of the year, earned Atlanta Journal-Constitution first-team all-state honors and Savannah Morning News player of the year honors. Here’s a nice article on him with some great quotes from his high school coach.
Looks like Lamar is a big, strong, tough G/F who moves well, can post up inside and has a nice, smooth shot from 3. He’s described on his school’s website as a “Big body wing that plays 1-5. He has good ball handling skill, is a great passer and knocks down open shots. Excellent defender with great instincts and hands. Junk yard dog.” Who wouldn’t want a player like that?!!!
JUCOrecruiting.com has him on their “2019 Top JUCO Basketball Guards to Watch list,” but he’s a qualifier so can go D1 in the fall.
Here’s a video so you can see Lamar for yourself:
Lamar is also being recruited by Washington State.
