PF Mikail Simmons Commits to LMU

LMU filled their last open roster spot with the commitment of 6’8”210-pound PF Mikail Simmons from Plano East High School in Plano, Texas.

Class of 2017 Simmons, tweeted the news himself on his Twitter account:

Simmons, who also played wide receiver on his high school football team, is a terrific athlete who is smooth and fast up and down the court.

He’s also got some nice, soft hands, which are on display here in these FOOTBALL highlights:

But since he is coming to LMU to play basketball, you are probably interested in his basketball highlights.  You can see from the below videos that he moves very well, he can get up to block shots and dunks easily:

It looks like Simmons grew out of the WR position and into a PF. Our guess is when Simmons focuses on basketball full time, gets into a college weight program and develops his skills under Coach Dunlap’s tutelage, he could develop into nice player for LMU.

Coach Dunlap has talked about running and pressing more, and a long, athletic player like Simmons is the type of big man that can make that happen.

Welcome to LMU Mikail!  We’re excited to watch you in a Lions uniform!
