Aquira DeCosta, a 6-2 wing from Sacramento, California is ranked as one of the best players in nation in the 2018 class. She is the # 6 prospect overall and ranked #1 at her position. Undoubtedly DeCosta has a very long list of schools from across the nation recruiting her. Recently, she cut her this list down to 14 schools and LMU was included.
In the last year there has been a big shift in the recruiting profile of the LMU women’s program with the coaching staff recruiting at a national level. The 2017 class, which includes a McDonald’s American (Gabby Green), and two top 100 ESPN recruits (Jasmin Jones #50) (Chelsey Gipson #53) is definitely the best in program history.
This trend continues with the recruitment of such a highly ranked player as DeCosta. Head Coach Charity Elliott and Associate Head Coach April Phillips are not backing down as they face some of biggest programs in the nation.
The LMU staff has already conducted a in-home visit with DeCosta which is really exciting. I’m sure LMU’s location, beautiful campus, and excellent academic reputation were discussed as these factors are always instrumental for all future Lions.
