4-Star Forward Trevor Manuel Transfers To LMU

MANUEL,-TREVOR_6_25_150ESPN and other sources are reporting that Trevor Manuel, a 6’9” former 4-Star Forward has transferred from Oregon to LMU and will begin classes next Monday.

An impressive recruit for Coach Dunlap and the Lions, Manuel was a highly recruited high school basketball prospect with a 93 grade by 247 Sports and an 80 grade by ESPN.  He finished 3rd in the Mr. Basketball voting in the state of Michigan his senior year, and was named to the Class A All-State Team while averaging 21.9 points a game.

Manuel chose Oregon over UNLV, USC, Wake Forest, Michigan, Michigan State, Florida State and others in September 2014.

Manuel is tall and athletic and runs the court very well.  He has huge upside and will be able to use his redshirt transfer year to gain needed strength and muscle as well as hone his skills.

Here’s a look at those skills (try not to get too excited, he won’t be on the court for LMU until January 2017):

You can see his athleticism and his shooting form in this video:

This is mostly dunks with a couple of hooks:

Here’s an article from his senior year, when he was named Player of the Year by the Lansing State Journal:

In the above article they reference his huge game when he had 24 points against the Michigan Mr. Basketball his senior year.  Here’s a highlight video of the game plus an interview with Manuel at the end:

Manuel should feel right at home at LMU with former AAU teammate and LMU Freshman PG Munis Tutu, who has known him for years.  Here’s an article that features the two of them when they played opposite each other and Tutu had a huge game:

Manuel has known LMU Sophomore G/F Steven Haney even longer, having played in the same youth program.  Go to the following link and scroll down to the Thursday, April 8, 2010 report and look at the rosters for Dorian’s Pride 15s and 14s and you will see the connection.  (You’ll also recognize the coach of the 15s, a former LMU player.)

Manuel tweeted about the LMU program: “I think it’s a good fit because it’s a program that’s being built back up and I want to be a part of the progression and something special here,”

Manuel will have to sit out one year before playing for the Lions.

Welcome to LMU Trevor!  We’re happy to have you and look forward to watching you play!
