Evan Payne has decided to transfer from LMU. Payne had an immediate impact as a freshman season, and end up breaking the record for freshman scoring with 497 points. There was no let up in his sophomore season as he lead the Lions scoring averaging 18 ppg. He was also second in scoring in the WCC for a majority of the season. He missed the last three regular season games due to a injury, but was back in action in the Lions first game of the WCC tournament where he exploded for 29 points.
Payne’s ability to score in a variety of ways and his eye popping athleticism, made him a Lion fan favorite. His dunk against Witcha State even end up on the front page of Yahoo. The video can be seen here.
Evan certainly has a very bright future ahead of him, and I will follow and support him where ever he ends up.
Evan had a very classy statement on his Instagram which is below:
Being an LMU Lion was an amazing opportunity and I am endlessly Thankful for the Experiences and Blessings that have come to me over these two years…but I have come to my decision to end my time here at LMU …I’m just on an intense mission to achieve goals that some would believe to be impossible for me to reach …My hunger for success has intensified greatly over this year and I just want to continue to push myself beyond my limits …I want to become more than what my imagination can even dream up… I’m starving for this “Next Level” feeling…and I’m determined to get there…To My Supporters, To My Family, To The Pride… THANK YOU AGAIN and Keep your eyes to the sky you will be seeing me soon ✈️✈️
