Spring Surge Helps LMU Finish 2nd in Commissioner’s Cup

The impressive surge by Loyola Marymount’s spring sports helped power the university to finish 2nd overall in the West Coast Conference Commissioner’s Cup, closing to finish right behind six-time champion BYU, and well ahead of 3rd-place finisher Gonzaga.  St. Mary’s finished 4th.

Terry Porter head University of Portland men’s basketball coach

The final coaching vacancy in the WCC has been filled. Veteran NBA coach and player Terry Porter has verbally agreed to be next University of Portland head coach. News story can be read here.

Kyle Smith Named Head Men’s Basketball Coach at USF

USF has hired Kyle Smith as Men’s Basketball Coach. Smith is the third new hire in the conference following Damon Stoudamire at Pacific, and Herb Sendek at Santa Clara. Only the University of Portland job remains open. The official press release can be read here. 

Herb Sendek hired at Santa Clara

According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN, Herb Sendek has been hired at Santa Clara. Sendek was the previous head coach at NC State and Arizona State. He has a overall coach record of 406-290 (.583) . The University of San Francisco and University of Portland still have head coaching vacancies.
